Sharen Medrano
For the past 16 years, Sharen Medrano has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in New York City, a career inspired by the birth of her son in 2007. During her first pregnancy, Sharen developed a fascination with breastfeeding upon learning that breast milk could reduce the likelihood of autoimmune disorders in children. This interest was deeply personal, as her mother had lived with Multiple Sclerosis for over 30 years. She was also intrigued by how breastmilk changes according to a baby's age—an aspect of biology she never learned in school.
The homebirth of her daughter in 2011 further enriched Sharen’s understanding of the vital link between childbirth and breastfeeding, a connection often overlooked by healthcare professionals. This experience not only solidified her career choice but also inspired her holistic approach to parenting and education.
Motivated by the confidence that grew from her experiences of childbirth and breastfeeding, and trusting their parental instincts, Sharen and her husband decided to homeschool their children in 2019. This decision was driven by legislative changes in New York that conflicted with their convictions.
Sharen's commitment extends beyond her family. She actively volunteers at the county and state levels of New York to ensure elected officials uphold their oath the U.S. Constitution. In addition, she educates on the gold standard of money through the use of precious metals, and supports projects led by Carrie Madej, known for her advocacy in the medical freedom movement.
Sharen's passions are wholeheartedly supported by her two teen children, her husband, and their four-year-old cattle dog mix, who are her steadfast cheerleaders in everything she undertakes.
